Day 2 North Queensferry to Kirkcaldy
17.5 Miles / 28 Km 7-9 Hrs 1180 ft / 360 MetresThe Fife Coastal Path begins directly underneath the gigantic Firth of Forth railway bridge. Soon, you leave the hurtling trains behind you as the path heads eastwards along the coast towards the splendid village of Aberdour. From Aberdour, the path follows the coastline into Burntisland. A rather long road section (approx. 3.5km) will then lead you into the pretty little fishing village of Kinghorn. Afterwards, the trail heads north past the dramatic remains of Seafield Tower and into the town of Kirkcaldy.
-
Day 3 Kirkcaldy to Lower Largo
12.5 Miles / 20 Km 5-7 Hrs 820 ft / 250 MetresLeaving Kirkcaldy, there’s a lovely trail through Ravenscraig Park that takes you all the way to Dysart Harbour. We recommend you stop in at the fascinating Visitor Centre and café in the old Harbourmaster’s House. From here, the hike enters one of its least attractive sections as it leads you through urban areas affected by the local industrial decline.
-
Day 4 Lower Largo to Crail
17 Miles / 27 Km 7-9 Hrs 890 ft / 270 MetresIf you like glorious sandy beaches and charming fishing villages then you will certainly love this section of the trail. Look out for the Robinson Crusoe statue in Lower Largo and the ruins of Newark Castle on the way into St Monans. If you’re feeling peckish, be sure to stop in at the Anstruther Fish Bar – a past winner of the UK Fish & Chip Shop of the Year. Continuing along the coast from Anstruther, a lovely remote path leads you into the quieter village of Crail.
