Clara is originally from Alsace in the East of France. Growing up, she’d often go hiking, canoeing and camping with her family which instilled a profound appreciation for nature in her. Upon finishing school, she spent some time volunteering in farms and in therapeutic and sustainable communities around Europe. Her travels brought her to Galway, on the West coast of Ireland, where she decided to stay and complete a Bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology, as well as an MA in literature. Even in her studies, her interest for the outdoors was never too far as her final dissertation focused on Jack London’s The Call of the Wild (her favourite book!).
Clara had been searching for a long time for the ideal place to work where she could truly connect with the experience provided to customers. This led her to Hillwalk Tours where she takes pride in working for a company that supports small businesses and promotes sustainable tourism. As our Business Support Specialist, Clara wears many hats in the company and mainly works behind the scenes in Finance and Human Resources alongside Eimear when she’s not assisting another team on a project. She is very committed to our core purpose of creating experiences that make people happy and loves being able to do so for our customers, suppliers and employees.
Outside of work, Clara is all about finding balance and living a slower, peaceful life. You’re probably most likely to find her curled up with a book, a podcast or Netflix (let’s be honest here) and a chai latte (her favourite drink!) as she just loves everything cosy. She also enjoys baking treats for loved ones, mindful walking and hiking (duh!). Additionally, Clara is passionate about mental health and everything surrounding psychology and sociology.
